All Wilson Combat Match Grade AR-15 barrels are precisely crafted of the finest American-made 416R rifle rated steel on computer controlled equipment to our exacting list of technical specifications. These proven barrels feature a hand-polished bore and feedramps and then complete a rigorous final inspection process that ensures your new barrel will meet your most demanding expectations. All barrels feature crisp CNC markings, precision muzzle crown and a chamber and gas port optimized for reliability.
The Recon Tactical is our vision of what a practical, all-around medium profile AR barrel for rigorous tactical training, hardcore hunting or all-purpose field applications should be. The Recon can do it all-very well. Fluted barrel model reduce weight even further and increases stiffness to the barrel for no loss in practical accuracy.
5.56 NATO was developed in the United States and initially chambered in the M16 rifle. It is the standard cartridge for NATO forces as well as many non-NATO countries. It is derived from, but not identical to, the .223 Remington cartridge. We use a NATO, mil-spec chamber in our barrels that is reliable and safe to fire both 5.56 and .223 Remington rounds. This common and easy-to shoot cartridge is ideal for defense, training and small-medium game hunting.

||Wilson Recon Barrel

|When I placed my barrel order I had intended to purchase the fluted barrel to duplicate the accuracy of a friends Wilson rifle I had recently fired. I noted the slightly heavier Recon barrel was less expensive and had a 1 in 8 twist versus the fluted barrels 1 in 9 twist. Im not going to be climbing any mountains with this rifle anytime soon so I went with the Recon. I also asked Wilson to Armor Tuff the barrel for me which added about a week to the delivery. The barrel replacement went without any surprises. Thus far Ive shot 55, 62, 69, and 77 grain bullets at ranges out to 500 meters on a high power silhouette range. All bullet weights have proven to be accurate with the 1-8 twist. The 69 and 77 grain Sierra Match bullets are incredibly accurate out to 385 meters/421 yards easily staying within the turkey silhouettes body. At 500 meters my Kentucky elevation with an unmagnified EOTech is the limitation, not the Wilson barrel. Given that Im over 60 and my vision is less than 20/20 perhaps I should mount a scope on my AR to determine just how accurate this combination is on paper at longer distances, but Im having way to much fun with the EOTech for now. The Wilson Recon barrel is a great value if you dont mind carrying a few extra ounces.|
