SUPER EDC, Wilson Combat ELC, Extreme Light Carry |
Date Posted: 12/4/2011 |
| First of all,This is My first Wilson Combat Blade, It has super looks and it is a FANTASTIC EDC. The Blade is very light for Me, I Love This Darrel Ralph Design, GUNHAMMER, See FOX KNIVES!
This Wilson Combat Model has a better blade coating Diamond Like Coatingthan the Fox Gun Hammer. This Blade, Made from N690CO,is a high end steel is very popular in Europe. Imported from Italy, It is razor sharp, holding an edge unbelievably well, Plus it is highly rust resistant! I have used this blade Hard out in the woods, and have no complaints, with edge retention, and the DLC coating,is holding up extremely well!
Do not be concerned about the thinner looking lock bar, it is way more than adequate, and Lock-up is solid! I find this knife easy to deploy, Lightning fast and very smoooooth!
Between Fox and Wilson Combat, this is an EDC You can count on, and will have for Years to come. My only minor knock is that the G-10, is rough on the pockets, but because I carry this in a belt pouch, it is no longer an issue. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BLADE FOR AN EDC! I bought this 2 Years before NutnFancys review came out, and wish I had done the review. I believe He said that this Knife could be a Bench Mark Blade, and I agree. Five Stars as far as I am concerned, and I know that You are going to love it also!
Thanks,
Charlie
PS This is Strictly My Own Opinion. I am not attached to the manufactures, or companys in any way other than I purchased
one of their products, and am now giving My opinion on it.
Thanks,
Charlie,

Not as good as it could be |

| I love the ergonomics of this folder. Fits in my hand like a glove. I give that 5 stars. The ELC is not the best or swiftest blade to open. Nor the take down. The release lever is very low in the channel and it is hard to grip with your thumb. Low stars here. The blade is nice and sharp. I do not think I will be getting another Wilson blade if they are that difficult in opening and closing. |

Wilson ELC |

| Very nice knife, well made and very sharp right out of the box. I have found nothing that I dont like about it, very smooth opening and tight fit and finish. I have carried an Emerson Commander for almost 10 years now and this is a fine knife to complement it. Fathers Day preset 2011 from the wife, Thanks Wilson Combat! |

Mid Size EDC |

| Overall the construction is excellent because the blade is centered, the steel liners are drilled in a decent attempt to reduce weight, the tough blade coating, grippy/confidence inspiring G-10 material, and it is sharp right out of the box. Very good ergonomics which appears to be a result of the thickness of the knife handle, the G-10 handle, and finger choil placement. The Wilson Combat ELC will fit in nicely with my other EDC rotation knives like the Paramilitary 2, Sage, and BM 960. The only concerns are maybe it needs a different type of locking mechanism though it appears to be adequate, it could shed some weight maybe an overall weight much closer to 3 oz., and an open frame design. Overall I am very happy with my purchase of a quality made, not extremely heavy or large EDC knife. |

Great knife, but... |

| First, this is one fantastic blade. I expected nothing less from Wilson. I love this knife. Skip Welch has some good advise in his review as well, [Keep a box of bandaids nearby], it has a razors edge out of the box. Regarding the 4 star rating - Let me explain. I have been carrying a 3in CRKT for a long time now and has slowly become a utility blade over time. So, I needed a replacement for self defense and wanted to trade up. The ELC is a good choice for that job. The only drawbacks [IMHO] is that the grip is very abrasive and will eat up a pair of jeans in no time at all, and may slow your draw. Also, the clip, although sits nice and deeply into the pocket is not adjustable to the opposite end of the knife. [My CRKT clip is on the hinge end / ELC is on pomel end] I now have to develop new muscle memory to deploy quickly. This will come in time though. In closing, the ELC is a good quality blade and I would likely buy it again. This review shouldnt dissuade you from buying this knife. I only hope it helps you make a more informed decision. |

| I just got my new ELC knife, WOW just what I expected from Wilson Combat, superb quality and extreme value. Out of the box shaving sharp so watch out and have plenty of band aids available. Thanks for making my first knife purchase from Wilson a good one, saving up for the next one. |

| Got 2 knives for Christmas and this one is the best other one is a Ken Onion. Call me crazy but the thing I like the best is the lanyard that comes with it. This is an all around great knife, very nice blade and smooth opening. |
